Purpose in Action: Universal Human Rights Month
December is Universal Human Rights Month—a time to reflect on the progress made in protecting fundamental rights and freedoms for all people.
This month, we uplift the organizations and advocates advancing social justice, expanding legal support for marginalized communities, and championing both local and global human rights initiatives. Their work not only defends essential liberties but also drives meaningful, systemic change to ensure dignity, equity, and opportunity for everyone.

Redemption Earned
Location: Birmingham, Alabama

Consultant: Andrew Jones
The Work: Purpose Possible supports Redemption Earned with fundraising services, including grant applications, researching new funding opportunities, maintaining the grants calendar, and assisting with reporting.
“It has been professionally and personally rewarding to help Redemption Earned grow their grants portfolio and advance their mission of providing free legal and reentry services to elderly, critically ill, and infirm dying people in Alabama’s prisons. Given the nature of their work and the state in which they do it, they face strong headwinds. Nevertheless, they carry on with optimism and the courage to stand up for what is right. I’m so proud of the work they’ve accomplished. In just five years, they’ve secured the release of over 40 vulnerable people from Alabama’s dangerous and overcrowded prisons while spurring fundamental changes in the state’s parole processes that are making the system more just.”
