Phyllis Wheatley Center & Minneapolis
At Purpose Possible, our core values include building an inclusive and empowered team grounded in mutual respect. We believe in supporting and encouraging teams to be active in their communities and to advocate for the missions and causes that matter to them.
In solidarity with the protests in Minnesota and the National Shutdown taking place on Friday, January 30, we are pausing operations for the day. This is a peaceful pause to stand with those calling for dignity, justice, and meaningful change for our communities.
Purpose Possible will be closed on Friday, January 30 to give our team the time and space to participate in this collective action, should they choose.

When many are looking for signs of steadiness and community strength, we are honored to highlight one of our clients, the Phyllis Wheatley Community Center (PWCC). Having just celebrated its centennial in 2024, PWCC enters its second century not just as a service provider, but as a living testament to the power of community-led resilience. For 101 years, PWCC has served as a cornerstone of North Minneapolis. Founded in 1924 as the city’s first organization dedicated to supporting Black Americans during an era of segregation, it has grown from a settlement house into a vital hub for community empowerment.
Today, PWCC honors that legacy by creating pathways for individuals to take control of their futures through several core pillars:
Early Childhood Education: The Mary T. Wellcome Center provides high-quality development for the Northside’s youngest learners.
HOPE Restorative Programs: Focused on family unity and healing for those impacted by violence or the legal system.
Digital Literacy: The DigitalTechWorks Academy™ prepares youth for the future through coding and tech-focused mentorship.
Economic Equity: Dedicated initiatives support women-led households in building financial stability and homeownership.
As the region navigates moments of tension, PWCC remains a steadying force—proving for over a century that local leadership and mutual care are the most powerful tools for community resilience.
