Erin Nelson

Erin Nelson is a working artist and former Director of Burnaway, an Atlanta-based non-profit publication that focuses on contemporary art and art criticism from the U.S. South. Erin has 15 years of experience working in the arts and non-profit sector with a particular focus on artistic direction, strategic planning, grant-writing, and board development.

Erin left Burnaway at the end of 2021 to focus more on her art practice. She has exhibited her work at numerous museums including The Whitney, New Museum, MOCA GA, and the Aspen Art Museum. In 2023 she was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship and continues to exhibit internationally. She is passionate about the arts and environmental justice.

She is a member of the Georgia Native Plant Society and can be frequently found kayaking in the Okefenokee Swamp.
